About this event
Coventry City Council would like to invite you to attend a meeting to learn how you can help people identify the symptoms of TB and what to do if they have symptoms.
Between 2019 – 2021 Coventry had the second highest incidence of TB in the West Midlands. TB is infectious if found in the lungs or the throat, it can be passed on through the inhalation of minute respiratory droplets released when the infected person exhales, i.e., when they cough.
Unfortunately some people do not recognise that they have TB and seek healthcare at a late stage of infection when they are very poorly and may die, due to the length of time they have been infected they may have infected others close to them such as family and friends.
They will also explain how your community organisation can bid for funding through the small grants scheme to raise awareness of TB and to arrange TB testing clinics out in your community. They are also very keen to hear your ideas for getting key messages across to Coventry residents who have a higher risk of contracting TB.
